Binoy Varghese

Biography

Born 1966 in Kerala, Binoy did his National Diploma in Fine Arts from R.L.V College of Fine Arts, Kerala. He was the artist-in-residence at Aicon gallery,new york in 2007; Banff Centre for Arts, Alberta, Canada in 2000 and Cholamandal Artists Village, Chennai during 1994-98. He has held Six one-man shows at New Delhi, Canada, Chennai. He has also participated in three Two-men shows and many group shows which include ‘Reading Paint’, Bangkok in 2007; ‘Definitively Provisional –II’, Copenhagaun, Denmark; 11th Asian Art Biennale, Bangladesh in 2004; Miami Art Festival, Sponsored by Jacob Karpio Gallery Costa Rica in 1999; 41st National Academy Exhibition, Rabindra Bhavan, New Delhi in 1998. He has received several awards including the National Award by National Academy of Arts, New Delhi in 1998; a fellowship from the Madhavan Nair Foundation, Kochi in1993 and a scholarship from the Arnawaz- Vasudev Charitable Trust from 1994 to 1996. The artist lives and works in New Delhi.

Statement

‘My paintings are about the issues closer to my heart, In the new series of works I painted the children glowing in their dark and brown skin ,the social marker of their existence .selecting dark or brown complexioned persons or women in burka with unidentifiable complexion. I postulate body as information. The physical body of a person has become the embodiment of information regarding his identity.’

Kishor Shinde

Kishor Shinde

Biography

Born in 1958, completed his Diploma in painting from MSU, Baroda. He has participated in various solo and group shows and exhibitions in Delhi and Hyderabad and has also, in addition is an awardee of Lalit Kala Akademi and the Gujarat State Lalit Kala award. He lives and works in New Delhi.

Meghansh Thapa

Meghansh Thapa

Biography

Born in 1978 in Nepal, he did his B.F.A from Institute of Music & Fine Arts, Jammu in 1998. He has received National Scholarship for painting by Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi from 2006 -2007. He has participated in several group shows and art camps besides Day Residency at Religare Arts.initiative, New Delhi in 2009. He presently lives and works in New Delhi.

Murali Cheeroth

Biography

Murali’s canvas reconstructs visual reality drawing attention to the multiple angles of being. Born 1966 in Thrissur, Kerala, Murali presently lives and works in Bangalore, Karnataka. He has completed his BFA and MFA from Kala Bhawan, Santiniketan in 1992 and 1995 respectively. His has held his solo shows at Ahmedabad presented by Kerala Lalit Kala Akademi in 2000 and at Maharashtra in 2000 & 2001. He has held 3 two-man shows at Cochin in 2007 & 2003 and 1 at Ahmedabad in 1997. He has participated in over 20 group shows across India and aboard, lastly featuring at ‘Emerging India’, presented by Art Alive Gallery and S.A. Fine Arts, London, held at London in 2007. He has received many Awards including State Lalit Kala Academy Award in 1997-98; Kanoria Scholarship for Print Making in 1997; Cultural Scholarship by Department of Culture, Ministry of Human Resource Development, New Delhi during 1993-95.

Paresh Maity

Paresh Maity

Biography

Born in 1965, West Bengal. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts from Government College of Arts and Crafts, Kolkata, followed by Master’s Degree from the College of Art, New Delhi. Held over 30 solo shows and participated in equal number of group exhibitions and workshops including the Cleveland International Drawing Biennale in 1995, International Art Camp Hungary in 1999, Saffronart, Hong Kong & Los Angeles in 2001 and Rosy and Rosy Gallery, London in 2002. A number of awards he received include Gold Medal from USSR in 1983, Governors Gold Medal from Academy of Fine Arts Kolkata in 1988, National Scholarship Award in 1989, Pandit Ravishankar Award from College of Art, Delhi in 1992, and Royal Watercolour Society Award London in 2002. He lives and works in Delhi.

Statement

During the every part of our life in very deep and rooted for me. The madness of colour and line inspired me to create Air, Water,, Fire, Earth and the Sky. With these elements, I Breath, I imagine, I conceive, I create everything with colouring and lines. My journey into the would of art and creativity has led, not only to the discovery of the chiaroscuro of light and shade, the beauty and warmth of light of colours but also to an inner tranquility – a quiet glow which I hope will act of a beacon of light to guide me on my journey in the years to come.

Sakti Burman

Sakti Burman

Biography

Born in 1935, Kolkata, Sakti Burman did his graduation in painting from Government College of Arts and Crafts, Kolkata in 1956. He went on to study at the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux-Arts, Paris and was awarded with the Prix des Etrangers by this institution. He has also received the Silver Medal at the Salon de Montmorency and an award from the town of L’Isle-Adam. He has held several solo shows and also participated in major group shows across India and abroad which include V International Triennale, Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi; Paris Biennale, France. His works, along with those of Picasso, Chagall and Miro were exhibited in Japan in 1997. He was invited to participate in Sigmund Freud’s ‘Interpretation of Dreams’, an exhibition organised by University Art Museum, Binghamton, New York, at the Historisches Museum, Vienna in 2000. Several publications and illustrations have been released on his works including a book on his work and life ‘Sakti Burman - Dreamers on the Ark’ has been published in 2001 and the most recently released is the portfolio of Monographs by Lalit Kala Akademi, 2007. He lives and works in Paris.
