Born in 1957 in Udaipur.
Chhotu Lal did his graduation and post-graduation in drawing & painting from the University of Udaipur and received a gold medal for his MA Final. He also learnt traditional Indian miniature techniques and has adapted it to suit his own style featuring a more contemporary imagery.
He integrates symbols and signs of life in his works, as it exists today within his renderings of mythological stories and religious icons. His colours are all home made with mineral and vegetal extracts and the brushes from bird feathers. These endow his compositions a distinct luster and appeal that entails an interesting mix of the old and new in the imagery.
His works are held in several private and public collections in India and abroad including the Jawahar Kala Kendra Jaipur and Bharat Bhawan, Bhopal among others.
He lives and works in Udaipur.
