George Martin PJ
Born 1973 in Kerala, George Martin studied Bachelor of Fine Arts from College of Fine Arts, Thiruvanthapuram in 1998 and Master of Visual Arts in 2001 from Government College of Art and Craft, Kolkata.
Martin has participated many solo shows recent ones include, 'Objective Voice', Vadehra Art Gallery, New Delhi in 2009; Cavities at Palette Art Gallery, New Delhi, in 2008; Lost Article at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi, in 2007; and Footloose of Blue Pencil at Bombay Art Gallery, Mumbai, in 2006.
He has also participated in a number of group shows, the most recent being, 'Angkor Wat: An Indian Perspective', Gallery Art and Soul, Mumbai in 2012; 'Skin Deep: The Art of Fibreglass', The Viewing Room, Mumbai in 2011; 'India Rising: Tradition Meets Modernity', presented by Ati Art Gallery at Varya, New Delhi in 2010; 'Vicissitudes of the Constructed Image', Tangerine Art Space, Bangalore in 2009; 'Progressive to Altermodern: 62 Years of Indian Modern Art', Grosvenor Gallery, London in 2009; 'Mining Minds', Chaitanya Art Gallery, Kochi in 2009; ‘From Surface to Origin: Journeys Through Recent Art From India and Thailand’ at Gallery Soulflower, Bangkok, in 2008; ‘Shifting Terrains Altered Realities’ at the Shrine Gallery and Empire Art, New Delhi, in 2008; ‘Images/Urban/Neon’ at 1 x 1 Art Gallery, Dubai, in 2007; and Encode- Decode at Palette Art Gallery, New Delhi, in 2006.
He is the first recipient of Art India Magazine’s Promising Artist Award; He has also been a winner of the Kashi Visual Art Award, Bodhi Best Student Award and Kerala Lalit Kala Akademi Award.
His works are part of important private and corporate collections in India and abroad.
George now lives and works in New Delhi.
