S. Nandagopal

Nandagopal (1946 – 14 April 2017) completed his diploma in Fine Arts from Government College of Arts and Crafts, Chennai (1971). He completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Physics, Loyola College, Chennai (1966). His solo exhibitions include ‘S. Nandagopal: Recent Sculptures’, Art Alive, New Delhi (2016); ‘The Wheel as a Metaphor – And Other Sculptures’, Art Musings, Mumbai (2009); and ‘Narrative Sculptures’, at Singapore Art Museum, Singapore (2006). He received the Jindal Stainless Steel Award for Sculpture, New Delhi (2002); he has been the recipient of many other awards such as the State Nunkalai Kuzhu Award of Chennai (1978); the National Award, Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi (1978); he won the Gold Medal at the IVth International Triennale, New Delhi (1978); and the State Award, Lalit Kala Akademi, Chennai (1968).
